Short Description:

The Common Redshank (Tringa totanus) is a wader bird species found in Pakistan. It belongs to the Scolopacidae family and is characterized by its long red legs, mottled brown plumage, and distinctive red bill with a black tip. During breeding season, its plumage may turn more vibrant, with orange-red underparts. It typically measures around 28–33 centimeters in length.

Common Redshanks are primarily migratory birds, breeding in temperate regions of Europe and Asia during summer and migrating to warmer regions like Pakistan during winter. They are often observed foraging in shallow water, probing mud or sand with their long bills to feed on small invertebrates like insects, crustaceans, and mollusks. They are also known for their alarm calls, emitting a loud “tew-tew” when disturbed.
