In Pakistan, the Black-crowned Night-Heron is distributed across suitable wetland habitats throughout the country. They are commonly found in areas such as the Indus River basin, coastal wetlands along the Arabian Sea, and various freshwater bodies across the country.
As the name suggests, the Black-crowned Night-Heron is primarily nocturnal, although it may also be active during dawn and dusk. During the day, these herons typically roost in trees or dense vegetation near water bodies, where they remain concealed. At night, they emerge to forage for prey, which primarily consists of fish, amphibians, crustaceans, insects, and small mammals.
