Spotted Owlet is distributed throughout various habitats including farmland, open woodland, scrubland, and urban areas. It is commonly found in the plains and lowlands, often near human settlements where it takes advantage of artificial structures for nesting and roosting.
Spotted Owlets are nocturnal hunters, primarily active during the night when they prey on insects, small rodents, lizards, and other small creatures. They are also known to hunt during the early morning and evening hours. During the day, Spotted Owlets roost in tree hollows, crevices, or man-made structures such as buildings, barns, and abandoned nests of other birds.
