Black Stork is a large wading bird with a distinctive appearance. It has glossy black plumage with a contrasting white belly and underwing. Juveniles have duller plumage and lack the white patches on the wings.

Black Stork is mainly found in the northern regions, particularly in the foothills of the Himalayas and along the Indus River basin. They are also occasionally spotted in wetlands and freshwater bodies across the country during migration or dispersal periods. However, they are generally less common compared to other stork species in Pakistan.
Black Storks are migratory birds, spending the summer breeding season in temperate regions of Europe and Asia and migrating southward to warmer climates for the winter. They are solitary birds or found in small groups, often foraging in shallow waters for fish, amphibians, crustaceans, and small mammals. They may also feed on insects, reptiles, and carrion.
