Eurasian Collared-Doves are widespread across Pakistan, inhabiting various habitats ranging from urban areas to rural landscapes. They are commonly found throughout the country, including regions such as Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Their distribution has expanded rapidly in recent decades, facilitated by their adaptability to human-altered environments.
Eurasian Collared-Doves are often seen in pairs or small groups, foraging on the ground for seeds, grains, and other plant matter. They are highly adaptable birds and can thrive in a wide range of habitats, including cities, towns, agricultural areas, and open woodlands. During the breeding season, which typically occurs from spring to summer, Eurasian Collared-Doves build simple nests of twigs and grass in trees, shrubs, or on man-made structures. Both parents share incubation duties and care for the young chicks until they fledge. The species is known for its distinctive cooing call, which is a common sound in its habitat and is often heard throughout the day.
