Short Description:

The Eurasian Curlew (Numenius arquata) is a migratory bird found in Pakistan, primarily during the winter months. It is a large wader with a distinctive long, curved bill, which it uses to probe the mud for invertebrates.

In Pakistan, the Eurasian Curlew is primarily found in coastal areas, estuaries, mudflats, and wetlands along the coastline of the Arabian Sea. It can also be spotted in inland wetlands and marshes, especially during migration periods.

During the winter months, Eurasian Curlews form loose flocks and forage in tidal mudflats and shallow water, using their long bills to probe for prey such as worms, crabs, and small shellfish. They are known for their distinctive “cur-lee” call, often heard during flight or while foraging.
