In Pakistan, Oriental Pratincoles are mainly observed during their migratory periods, typically from March to October. They migrate from their breeding grounds in Central Asia and Siberia to their wintering grounds in South Asia, including Pakistan. During migration, they can be found in various habitats across the country, particularly in open grasslands, wetlands, and agricultural areas.
Oriental Pratincoles are known for their aerial feeding behavior. They feed primarily on flying insects, such as beetles, flies, and grasshoppers, which they catch in flight using their agile flight skills and sharp bills. They are often seen foraging in flocks, swooping low over fields or water bodies to capture prey.
