Short Description:

Pallid Scops-Owl is a relatively small owl, measuring about 20-23 centimeters (8-9 inches) in length. It has a distinctive round facial disk with yellowish eyes, bordered by a dark ring. Its plumage is generally pale gray or buff with intricate mottling, providing excellent camouflage against tree bark. It has prominent ear tufts that are often held close to the head. Overall, its appearance helps it blend seamlessly with its surroundings.

Pallid Scops-Owl is primarily found in the dry and semi-arid regions, including scrublands, thorn forests, and open woodlands. It is distributed across various provinces, including Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It tends to favor areas with scattered trees or dense vegetation where it can roost during the day and hunt at night.
Pallid Scops-Owls are strictly nocturnal, becoming active at dusk to hunt for their prey. They feed primarily on insects, small mammals, birds, and reptiles, which they capture using their sharp talons and beak. During the daytime, they roost in concealed locations such as tree hollows, dense foliage, or even abandoned buildings, relying on their cryptic plumage to remain hidden from potential predators
