The Pallid Swift (Apus pallidus) is a medium-sized swift species characterized by its slender body, long swept-back wings, and distinctive forked tail. In Pakistan, Pallid Swifts are primarily found in the northern regions, particularly in mountainous areas such as the Himalayas and the Karakoram Range. They are also observed in other parts of the country during migration, including coastal areas and plains. Pallid Swifts prefer habitats with rocky cliffs, gorges, and steep slopes for nesting and roosting.
Pallid Swifts are highly aerial birds, spending the majority of their time in flight. They are adept fliers, capable of sustained flight for long distances without resting. Pallid Swifts feed primarily on flying insects, including flies, mosquitoes, and other small airborne prey, which they catch in mid-air using their wide gape and agile flight maneuvers.
