Short Description:

A smallish brown to grey-brown leaf-warbler with well-defined face pattern and short primary projection. Much as Common, but lacks olive-green tinge to rump and has buffish edges of wing and tail feathers. In fresh plumage, shows warm buff coloration to ear-coverts, breast sides and flanks. Bend of wing is often whitish.

Common summer visitor to all the areas of Gilgit-Baltistan except for Ghanche and Kharmang. Found in pine and birch forests, groves along streams, sea-buckthorn bushes and on hillsides covered with juniper in semi-arid mountain valleys up to 4400m.

Usually forages alone or in small groups; in non-breeding season may join mixed-species flocks. Items gleaned during active foraging in foliage, also collected on ground. Food items include small insects including their adults and larvae and spiders, probably also some small berries in autumn.
