In Pakistan, the Brown Dipper primarily inhabits mountainous regions, particularly in the northern parts of the country where there are fast-flowing streams and rivers. They are often found near clean, clear water bodies with rocky substrates, which provide ideal hunting grounds for their aquatic prey.
Forages on riverbed, by diving from rock into fast-flowing water. Swims on surface; on calmer pools and tarns, frequently dives from a floating position. Diet mainly aquatic invertebrates, especially mayfly and stonefly nymphs, larvae of caddis flies and other similar items.
