Indian Pitta is distributed across various regions of Pakistan, particularly in forested areas, woodlands, and scrublands. It can be found in both the northern and southern parts of the country, including regions such as Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir. Within these habitats, it prefers dense undergrowth and leaf litter, where it can forage for food and seek shelter.

Indian Pittas are primarily ground-dwelling birds, often observed hopping and scurrying along the forest floor in search of prey. They feed on a diet consisting mainly of insects, spiders, earthworms, and other small invertebrates, which they capture using their sharp bill. Despite being primarily terrestrial, Indian Pittas are also skilled fliers, capable of short bursts of flight between patches of suitable habitat. During the breeding season, which typically occurs from April to August, they engage in courtship displays and build cup-shaped nests in thick vegetation. Their rich, flute-like calls echo through the forest, adding to the enchantment of their presence in the Pakistani wilderness.
