Common passage migrant and summer visitor to all the lower valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan. Found in open country or near forests rich in dense cover and lower-level foliage, shrub land, plantations with small trees and orchards, at 1500-3000m.
Generally forages in trees and bushes, searching leaves, twigs and bark for insects. Observed systematically to search for food items on tree trunks in manner of treecreeper; also to beat wings in attempt to flush prey. Mostly insectivorous during breeding season. Fruit, seeds, nectar, pollen and barries taken from various plants.
