The Rusty-tailed Flycatcher is primarily found in mountainous regions, including the Himalayas and Karakoram ranges. It inhabits forested areas, particularly preferring dense undergrowth and wooded valleys.
This flycatcher species is known for its agile flight and perching behavior. It feeds mainly on insects, catching them in mid-air or from perches. During breeding season, males sing to establish territories and attract mates. They construct cup-shaped nests in concealed locations within forests. The Rusty-tailed Flycatcher is generally a solitary bird outside of the breeding season.
