Sand Lark is predominantly found in the arid and semi-arid regions across the country. Its distribution spans various provinces, including Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These birds are well adapted to the harsh desert environments and can be observed in sandy plains, dunes, and scrubby landscapes.
Sand Larks are highly adaptable birds known for their ground-dwelling behavior. They forage on the ground for seeds, grains, and insects, using their slender bills to probe into the sandy soil. During the breeding season, males perform aerial displays to attract females, singing melodious songs while flying. They are also known for their communal roosting behavior, often congregating in large flocks during non-breeding periods. Sand Larks are well adapted to the extreme temperatures of their habitat, seeking shelter during the hottest parts of the day and becoming more active during the cooler mornings and evenings.
