Short Description:

Small laughingthrush, streaky-brown and grey with dull rufous ear-coverts. Has fine dark streaking on crown and nape, and has greyish cast to crown and nape, rufous ear-coverts. Fine white streaking on mantle and underparts, and grey-tipped olive-brown tail with diffuse black subterminal band on outer feathers.

In Pakistan, the Streaked laughingthrush is primarily found in the northern regions, particularly in the foothills and lower mountain slopes of the Himalayas. It inhabits dense undergrowth and forested areas, including mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests, as well as scrubland and bamboo thickets. This species is relatively localized in its distribution within its range.
Keeps to ground. A garden bird in towns and villages, feeding in open, as well as under bushes. Found in pairs or in small parties, depending on season. Diet mostly consists of insects, including moths and caterpillars, small flies, and ants; also spiders. Also feeds on berries, fruits and seeds; occasionally breadcrumbs.
