The Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus) is a winter visitor to Pakistan, found across grasslands, agricultural fields, wetlands, and open plains. Unlike many other owls, it is often active during the day, especially at dawn and dusk, when it hunts for rodents and other small prey by flying low over open ground with slow, buoyant wingbeats.
